Christine Grunch-Halberg

Christine Grunch-Halberg’s is the Director and Co-founder of Momentum One Volleyball Academy. Her love of volleyball began in the 5th grade in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She played varsity volleyball for four years in high school and helped her Coeur d’Alene High School team to a 3rd place state tournament finish her senior year. Christine also loved the sport of softball and started later in her high school years as a sophomore. She made the Coeur d’Alene High School varsity team her first year as a junior where she started as their left fielder. Her junior and senior year, she led her team to be the state champions where she earned the state tournament MVP award her senior year.

Christine earned a full-ride volleyball scholarship to North Idaho College her freshman year where she led her region in digging. However, she completed her college years playing fastpitch at New Mexico State University where she played right field the majority of the time. She continued to play softball in the summer with her sisters and friends where her team earned the Class C National Championship Title in 1997 in Alabama. She brings a lot of experience to her athletes from a high level of team competition, as well as knowing what it takes to make it the college level.

Besides many years of playing experience from elementary to post college, Christine has over 20 years of experience coaching volleyball at the high school level. She coached in Michigan for 8 years winning 3 league titles and 2 district titles. She also coached at Port Angeles High School for 11 years leading her teams to a 2nd place in districts and 3 state tournament appearances.

She has coached and directed all levels of camps from Kindergarten to college-aged players for over 20 years both in Michigan and Washington. She has attended many coaches’ clinics throughout the country (Portland, Las Vegas, Seattle, Grand Rapids (MI), Lansing (MI), Grand Rapids (MI)) as well as taken her teams to summer camps (Western Washington, Michigan State, Ferris State, Alma College, Saginaw Valley, Penn State, Guy Enriques). She loves to continually learn the game and find new ways to teach fundamentals to athletes as well as learning new strategies to coach at the highest levels.

Christine is USAV IMPACT certified, CPR/First-Aid qualified and has received training through the Art of Coaching Volleyball, Guy Enriques and Safe Sport. She loves to coach athletes in all aspects of their game including weight lifting, nutrition, speed & agility, mental toughness, attitude, and leadership.

Christine has three daughters who play volleyball as well — 16, 14, and 12 years old.
